Research

Application

Application

To build a strong foundation that supports our mission, we are conducting research related to BIPOC wellness in the workplace. Specifically, we will study the factors influencing the wellness of Black and Brown women serving in leadership positions in predominately white nonprofit work environments.

Application

Our research will lead us to a deeper understanding of how dominate cultural workplace expectations impact the health and wellness of historically marginalized populations. We will explore solutions that can improve workplace culture, reduce burnout, and increase a sense of belonging for all people.

With support, we plan to complete our three-year study by the end of Summer, 2027.   Upon final review, we will publish our findings.  This publication will serve as a curriculum guide for professional development workshops that equip nonprofit leaders in the state of Oregon.

BIPOC Camping R3 Retreat, May 2022

Here's what you can expect during this event:

  • All folx attending will confirm to abide by the Community Culture Agreement which serves to create a safe and healthy space for all campers.
  • This retreat is intentionally not programmed.  The purpose of the retreat is to go camping.  What you do while camping is completely up to you! Spend time by yourself, with family or friends and/or be in community with other BIPOC.  Your time is yours to relax, relate, release!
  • There are a few scheduled activities you can participate in at your leisure, free of charge (i.e. art, outdoor cooking class, candle making, storytelling.)  There are also a couple workshop/classes offered for a fee ($10-$25).
  • We have a special guest joining us this year. Afrovivalist will be offering a small group survival workshop.  Check out her bio on Linkedin.
  • On Saturday, we’ve been invited to join People of Color Outdoors (POCO) for Community Day.  You can sign up for this event when you register as a member for POCO.
  • There is no water, electricity or showers at the camp site.  Wifi is sketchy.
  • The camp site is close to the Sandy River.  Swimming and tubing is allowed, at your own risk.  There are no lifeguards and you'll need to bring your own floating devices.  There are some life jackets provided by the park and we strongly encourage usage!
  • You are responsible for your camping supplies, including food and water.  Fridieoutdoors.com is a BIPOC site that provides great information to help prepare, whether you are new to camping or a seasoned camper.
  • We will provide parking passes for the first 50 cars, available at check-in.  After that it’s $5 per car.  We encourage carpools!
  • This event is organized by Transformative Living Community, International  (TLC,Int’l) We are a very small non-profit focused on healing and wellness for BIPOC. Paid for through grant funding from Metro.

Confirmation Deadline: May 1st

If you  have already booked your spot, thank you! Next step is confirmation; a short form that helps us better prepare for your arrival.  We cannot hold your reservation without confirmation. Please complete the form before May 1st.
